Policy for Zoo & Museum District School Groups Special Exhibit Free Admission

School groups from within the Zoo & Museum District (ZMD) have the opportunity to gain free admission to special exhibits offered at the Saint Louis Science Center.

Who qualifies?
School groups qualify if the school’s address is within the ZMD, which currently includes St. Louis City and St. Louis County. This offer is open to k-12 public and private schools, as well as home school families whose address is within the ZMD.

When is the offer available?
ZMD school reservations are available Monday through Thursday mornings, for entrance times from 10:00 to 12:30. Reservations are made on a first come, first serve basis, and tickets may be unavailable when few schools are in session (such as during spring break).

How are reservations made?
Schools can make reservations by calling (314) 289-4424. Please be prepared to share the school’s address (with zip code) to confirm ZMD status. Reservations must be made at least 10 days prior to the scheduled visit. To hold the reservation, a $20 nonrefundable processing fee must be paid by credit card. One adult chaperone for every 10 children is required and will gain free entry; all additional adults will pay the regular adult admission rate. To ensure the free tickets do not go unused, groups are encouraged to reserve only the number of tickets they anticipate needing. Changes to the reservation may be made if needed. (See below.)

How are reservations changed or canceled?
Schools may cancel or reduce the number of reserved tickets up to 10 days prior to the scheduled visit. Schools may increase the number of reserved tickets up to the day before the event, if space is still available. To encourage use of all free tickets, a $5 per person no-show charge will be applied on the day of the visit for each unused reserved ticket. Cancelations due to extenuating circumstances can be discussed on a case-by-case basis by calling the Science Center within five days of the visit.

 What other opportunities are available?
All groups are encouraged to consider educational programs designed to compliment special exhibits. Click here to view the list of Star Trek: The Exhibition programs. To accommodate groups participating in such programs, additional timeslots may be opened; please ask at time of purchase. As with all fieldtrip groups, lunch space can be reserved on a first come, first serve basis.
