- How many people constitute a group?
A group is 10 or more people.
- Should my group call ahead to schedule our visit?
Absolutely. It’s the only way to receive discounted group pricing. Also, if your group would like to see a specific OMNIMAX® Theater film or special traveling exhibition, we can guarantee space for you only if you have made a reservation.
- Can my group come to the Saint Louis Science Center just to enjoy the free exhibits?
Absolutely. General admission to the Science Center is free. If you’re bringing a group for a free visit, call the Reservations office at 314-289-4424 to schedule a Self-Guided Tour so that we know how many people to expect in the building.
- What if I need to add or subtract people from my total?
To ensure we have enough space reserved for your group, make adjustments in advance by calling ahead. Keep in mind that some of our venues have limited capacity and adding attendees is subject to ticket availability. Please note that we cannot decrease the number of attendees if your arrival date is fewer than ten days away.
- Do I need to call to confirm my reservation?
No. You will receive an email containing several attachments, including your confirmation. Please be sure to review the attachments and print your confirmation. Your confirmation page will act as your group’s ticket. You do not need to call unless there is a discrepancy or you have a question about your visit.
- Do I need to bring chaperones for groups of children?
For the safety and wellbeing of all Saint Louis Science Center visitors, we ask that your group have a minimum of one adult chaperone per ten children. If you are visiting the Discovery Room, one adult chaperone is required for every four children. Required chaperones are free.
- Where do we park?
For groups arriving together, the Saint Louis Science Center offers free parking for buses, motor coaches, and vans for fifteen passengers or more. Free bus parking is located on Oakland Ave or off-campus at 1100 Macklind Ave. For personal vehicles, the Science Center has a pay-for-parking lot available.
- How do I check in?
To make check-ins run as smoothly as possible, a Guest Service Agent will greet groups in the Emerson Lobby.
- When do I pay?
Payment is required 10 days prior to your reservation date. If you’re planning a trip within the 10-day timeframe, we accept payment over the form in the form of a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express). We also accept cash or a single check at a Box Office kiosk.
Institutional Purchase Orders are accepted as well. Fax a copy of your purchase order prior to your visit. If you have additional adults coming with your group, they must be included in your head count and payment to receive the group rate.
- What are my lunch options?
Avoid the hassle of lunch lines and preorder lunches through the Saint Louis Science Center. Call to learn about lunch options available. Payment for lunches will be added to your total reservation bill.
Please note that the Science Center is constantly changing and always welcoming groups of all sizes. However, because we have expanded our gallery and exhibition offerings, we no longer have guaranteedspace to provide a sack lunch program. For more information about lunch options or questions about what would work best for your group, please call our Reservations department at 314-289-4424.
- Can my group purchase tickets for other events after arriving?
Of course. Please remember that add-on experiences may result in additional fees and are subject to availability. If you would like to add an experience to your visit, only your group leader should make this request. The group leader should go to the Box Office kiosk with a head count for the add-on experience. If applicable, one lump payment for the add-on will be accepted at that time.
- I’m a Member. Can I use my Membership benefits?
Because of the special pricing structure we make available to groups, Member benefits do not apply. Members attending with a group must pay the group rate or use their Membership benefits separately.
- What else should I know before my group visits the Saint Louis Science Center?
We want your group’s visit to be a safe, enjoyable one. Please remember that the Saint Louis Science Center offers many activities and exhibitions that require some degree of physical dexterity. Therefore, we recommend you dress accordingly. Comfortable, casual attire with sensible shoes are strongly recommended.
