Although we're late to this party, we in Cyberville want our blog readers to recognize that technology can impact human rights.  Bloggers Unite wants bloggers to take the day to remind their readers about human rights abuses around the country.  With the summer Olympics approaching, it's important to recognize the role technology has in ensuring freedom and enforcing thought oppression.  In China, the ruling Communist Party actively blocks websites, both local and international, that are critical of the political powers that be.  The net effect is that Chinese citizens cannot gather the information they need to be informed citizens.  For an overview of this ethically questionable practice go to Wikipedea's page on The Great Firewall of China.

The summer has been great in Cyberville!  We have a new FIRST Robotics display in the gallery (for those who remember, the display case used to hold our laser show projector), and we've been doing a lot with Vex and Lego NXT robots in the gallery.  The Cyberville Gallery Assistants (Scott, Billy, and Jevion) and FIRST Robotics Interns (Sky and Lucas) have been pivotal in building and delivering these robot demonstrations to our visitors.  Our teen volunteers, Michael, Brent, and Tominisha, have also done a great job this summer, too!  Come on out and say hi to us!
