Begin your journey to Lost Egypt: Ancient Secrets, Modern Science with a ride on a real camel! The camel rides will take place outside of the main building at 5050 Oakland Ave. Rides are $5 for everyone. The camel can seat up to two children with one adult. Children ages 2 to 4 are required to ride with an adult. As an added feature, pet a baby camel for free! Rides are weather permitting and at the discretion of Double R Exotics.

Microsoft’s Digigirlz programs give middle and high school girls the opportunity to learn about careers in technology, connect with Microsoft employees and participate in hands-on computer and technology workshops. Microsoft invites you to join us for a FREE 2-day camp for girls entering grades 7-12, which will be held August 6-7, 2013 at the Saint Louis Science Center. Microsoft is proud to offer technology camps specifically for youth. One of our signature programs, DigiGirlz High Tech Camp for girls, works to dispel stereotypes of the high-tech industry. During the camp, the girls listen to women in technology and executive speakers, participate in technology tours and demonstrations, network, and learn through hands-on experience in workshops. Girls attending the camp will have a chance to win an Xbox Kinect!

Planetarium Shows in the StarBay and the Boeing Space Station gallery are closed due to Microsoft DigiGirlz Camp. (Microsoft’s Digigirlz programs give middle and high school girls the opportunity to learn about careers in technology, connect with Microsoft employees and participate in hands-on computer and technology workshops. We are excited to be able to work with Microsoft to provide young girls with this great program. Registration for this year's camp is closed.) We apologize for the inconvenience. You can still enjoy the free 50th Anniversary Exhibition in the Lobby, the simulators in the Experience Flight gallery, as well as access the Planetarium and Science Center using the free parking lot located in Forest Park. You may also be interested in viewing a film in the OMNIMAX Theater.

In celebration of Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month this August, the MIssouri Lions Eye Research Foundation will host free vision screenings at the St. Louis Science Center from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10. The Children’s Vision Screening staff will be onsite to screen children for vision problems, helping to prepare them for success in the classroom this school year.

This is a perfect time to see the monarch butterfly's migration through St. Louis. Join us to observe many species of butterflies, learn about their amazing migration, and pin and mount your own butterfly. A butterfly’s life is fleeting but when mounted and framed its beauty can last for years. Cost: $15 Age minimum: 10 years old The Family Science series will present monthly workshops (on the second Saturday of every month) open to families and adults that teaches you fun ways to share science at home. Children are encouraged and must be attended by a chaperone at a ratio of 1 adult for every 5 children.
