Celebrate all things game related at the March First Friday. Take part in open board game play, live action games and test video games created by local video game developers! First Friday favorites like public telescope viewings, scifi trivia and special prices for OMNIMAX® films are a staple at every event. Tickets for the free episode showing are available starting at 6pm on the evening of the First Friday event and are distributed on a first come, first served basis. First Friday activities such as our presentations, sci-fi trivia, 10pm sci-fi film, etc. are primarily designed for adults and recommended for audiences 16 years and older. Our public telescope viewings and free 7pm Planetarium show are recommended for all ages.

Nova Nights: The Spring Equinox On March 20, enjoy a date night under the stars of the James S. McDonnell Planetarium and learn about the upcoming the Vernal Equinox marking the start of spring. Your evening will include a live star show, a classic sci-fi film and a cash bar. Humans have long celebrated the Vernal (spring) Equinox as a time of rebirth as it marks the start of the spring season in the Northern hemisphere. Come help us celebrate the start of spring and learn if you can really stand an egg on its end on this day. Learn more about this astronomical event at our March Nova Night in a special presentation of our Live Sky Tonight Planetarium show. After this live star show, enjoy a classic science fiction movie to complete your evening. Your admission to Nova Nights includes: A special presentation of the Live Sky Tonight exploring the Vernal . A classic science fiction movie – Blade Runner (1982) Cash bar Tickets: $10 in advance, $15 at the door Location: James S. McDonnell Planetarium Date and Time: Friday, March 20. Doors open at 6:30pm. Parking for Nova Nights events is located at the James S. McDonnell Planetarium. Parking is free. To make your evening as comfy as possible, feel free to bring pillows and blankets.
