Made with Code Parties at the Saint Louis Science Center! What can a young woman do with code? Literally anything! Coding and computing skills provide a foundation in problem solving, creativity, and communication skills that will help a young women succeed and stay competitive in whatever she chooses to do. Young women, ages 12 to 17, in the St. Louis area will get a basic introduction to coding by attending a Made with Code Party this fall at the Saint Louis Science Center. Funded by Google and Girls Inc., these parties are a collaboration between the University of Missouri-St. Louis and the Saint Louis Science Center. What Makes a Monster? Geek out on the first Friday of every month! Learn the real science behind science fiction at our First Fridays events! October's theme is What Makes a Monster, This month will feature free hands-on activities and will culminate with a free 10pm screening of a classic monster move in the OMNIMAX® Theater. First Friday favorites like public telescope viewings, scifi trivia and special prices for OMNIMAX® films are a staple at every event. Tickets for the free 10pm show are available starting at 6pm on the evening of the First Friday event and are distributed on a first come, first served basis. First Friday activities such as our presentations, sci-fi trivia, 10pm sci-fi film, etc. are primarily designed for adults and recommended for audiences 16 years and older. Our public telescope viewings and free 7pm Planetarium show are recommended for all ages.

Nova Nights: Creepy Comets On October 31, grab your friends or your date and enjoy a geeky night out at the James S. McDonnell Planetarium. Enjoy drinks, a classic horror movie (Night of the Living Dead, 1968) and a live star show exploring the real story of some of sci-fi’s favorite villains, comets.
