How many people constitute a group?
A group is 10 or more people.

Is there an admission charge to come into the Science Center?
There is no general admission charge to come into the Saint Louis Science Center. There are fees attached to the paid venues; The OMNIMAX Theater, Lego Mindstorms, the special exhibition, Planetarium Shows and Discovery Room.

Should my group call ahead to schedule our visit?
Absolutely - it's the only way to receive discounted group pricing. Groups are given the opportunity to experience and pay for only the portions of the Saint Louis Science Center that they choose, but only when they reserve in advance. School groups enjoy chaperone privileges as well. Also, if your group would like to see a specific OMNIMAX Theater film or special traveling exhibition, we can guarantee space for you only if you have made a reservation.

When is the best time to make a group reservation?
During normal business operations a reservationist is available daily from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.

Once I make my reservation what happens if I need to add or subtract people from my total?

We understand the number of participants in your group may change. Keep in mind that some of our venues have limited capacity and adding attendees is subject to ticket availability. To ensure we have enough space reserved for your group, make adjustments in advance by calling 314.289.4424 and speak to a reservationist. Please note we cannot decrease the amount of attendees if your arrival date is less than ten days away

Do I need to call to confirm my reservation?
No. You will receive an email containing several attachments, including your confirmation. Please be sure to review the attachments and print your confirmation. Your confirmation page will act as your group’s ticket. You do not need to call unless there is a discrepancy or you have a question about your visit.

Do I need to bring chaperones for groups of children?
For the safety and well being of all Saint Louis Science Center visitors, we ask that your group have a minimum of one adult chaperone per ten children. If you are visiting the Discovery Room, one adult chaperone is required for every four children. The required chaperones are free.

School groups enjoy special chaperone rates. Schools are required to bring one chaperone for every ten children, grades 2-12. Adults accompanying your field trip over and above the required chaperones are charged the adult group rate.

How do I check in?
To make check in run as smoothly as possible, a Guest Service Agent will greet groups in the Emerson Lobby.

When do I pay?
Payment needs to be made prior to your visit, preferably 10 days in advance of your trip. If you are planning a trip under the 10-day time frame, we accept payment over the phone in the form of a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express). We also accept cash or single check at a Box Office kiosk. We also accept institutional purchase orders, and we will need a copy of the purchase order faxed to us prior to your visit. If you have additional adults coming with your group, they must be included in your head count and payment to receive the group rate.

Where can the bus park?
The Saint Louis Science Center offers free bus parking in the designated parking area on Oakland Avenue. Fifteen passenger vans also receive free parking privileges.

What are my lunch options?
Avoid the hassle of lunch lines and pre-order lunches through the Saint Louis Science Center!

Call to learn about the lunch options available. Payment for lunches will be added to your total reservation bill from the Saint Louis Science Center. You can order group lunches by contacting a reservationist at 314.289.4424.

The Science Center is constantly changing and always welcoming groups of all sizes. However, because we have expanded our gallery and exhibitions offerings, we no longer have space to provide a sack lunch program. If you have questions about what lunch options would work best for your group, please call our Reservations department at 314.289.4424.

What if, once we arrive, members of my group would like to see other things that we did not initially book?
Of course, you can make amendments to your itinerary. Please remember that because of the incremental pricing structure we make available to groups, add-on experiences may result in an additional fee and are subject to availability.

If you would like to add an experience to your visit, only your group leader should make this request. The group leader should go to the Box Office kiosk with a head count for the add-on experience. If necessary, one lump payment for the add-on will be accepted at that time.

I am a Member...can my group use my Membership benefits?
Because of the special pricing structure we make available to groups, Member benefits do not apply. Members attending with a group must pay the group rate or use their Membership benefits separately.

Does everyone in our group need a nametag?
No, but chaperones will need to obtain a Chaperone sticker from the Information Desk. Our Information Desk is located in the main lobby at 5050 Oakland Avenue.

What if bad weather on our visit day causes a school delay or cancellation?
If school is closed or delayed on the day of your field trip, the group leader should call the Reservation line at 314.289.4424 to cancel or reschedule your visit. We greatly appreciate your phone call to let us know you will not be coming in as scheduled. There is no penalty for changing your date due to inclement weather.

What else should I know before my group visits the Saint Louis Science Center?

We want your group's visit to be a safe, enjoyable one. Please remember that the Saint Louis Science Center offers many activities and exhibitions that require some degree of physical dexterity. Therefore, we recommend you dress accordingly. Comfortable, casual attire with sensible shoes are strongly recommended.
