Answers to Your First Fridays’ Questions
How does First Fridays’ Trivia work?
Tonight’s questions cover a variety of science fiction topics, with some questions about ancient Egypt. There will be 5 rounds of trivia, with five questions each round. You can join the contest at the start of any round and compete as an individual or as a team. Winners of each round can choose from a variety of passes to Science Center attractions.
What’s a Science Café?
A Science Café offers an opportunity to have a stimulating conversation about an intriguing science topic in an informal setting. At our Science Café’s you’ll hear a short presentation and then have an opportunity to ask questions and engage in conversation with the speaker.
Tell me more about the topic for tonight’s Science Café.
Tonight’s topic is, The Tradition of Mummification in Egypt. Dr. Michelle Loyet will explore the focus on the afterlife in Egyptian culture, as reflected in extensive grave offerings, elaborate tombs and the deliberate preservation of the corpse as a mummy. We’ll discuss the motivation for these behaviors, the influence of Egyptian religion and mythology and how traditions and technology changed over time.

How do I get tickets for the 10pm movie?
Get your tickets at any ticket booth. Tickets are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Once you have a ticket, you must be in the theater by 10 pm to claim your seat. If all tickets have been given out, visitors can wait in the stand-by line. At 10 pm, we will let people waiting in the stand-by line into the theater, to fill all empty seats.
