LEGO® MINDSTORMS® says goodbye to make room for all new making and tinkering space

LEGO® MINDSTORMS® and the Cyberville™ Gallery will soon sing their swan song to make room for an all new maker space. We are so excited to bring you a full spectrum of new activities and programs in what is sure to become a favorite gallery of the Saint Louis Science Center.

The last day to visit Cyberville™ and participate in a LEGO® MINDSTORMS® challenge will be Sunday, March 1. The new gallery should open in early July.

During weekday afternoons, one public program will be offered in a new classroom. Led by Science Center staff, the program will be 45 minutes and open to all different ages and families. On weekends or during holiday hours, there will be four programs throughout the day. While the programs will be free, there will be a material fee to replenish what is used during activities, and Members will receive a discount.

The Active Creativity partners who participate at monthly First Fridays and other Science Center events to promote the opportunities that arise from science and creativity will also contribute workshops to the maker space. The new gallery will also include a NASA inspired project that will bridge the main building to the James S. McDonnell Planetarium, allowing visitors to control a replica Mars rover.

If your child’s school is interested in the new programs, there will be times set aside for school groups on weekday mornings.

During construction, every effort will be made to ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruptions to Members and visitors. You will still be able to access the Discovery Room, and MindBall will move to the Human Adventure Gallery on the first floor. We hope you still visit us to partake in a film at the OMNIMAX® Theater, see a Planetarium Show or explore all the other galleries and exhibits we offer. And don’t forget to come back this summer to check out the new gallery!
