Executive Team

Leading the Saint Louis Science Center toward a brighter future!

Bert Vescolani
President and Chief Executive Officer

Bert Vescolani is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Saint Louis Science Center. He leads a team of more than 200 staff members and more than 400 volunteers whose mission is to ignite and sustain lifelong science and technology learning.

The Science Center serves more than one million people each year, making it one of the largest science centers in the US and abroad.

The Science Center is a recipient of numerous awards and recognition including recognition by the Association of Science/Technology Centers with its highest honor, the Roy L. Shafer Leading Edge Award.

Prior to assuming his present duties in December of 2011, Vescolani served six years as Zoo Director of the 103-acre John Ball Zoological Gardens in Grand Rapids, MI, helping the zoo grow its programs and exhibit dramatically. Prior to joining the John Ball Zoo, Vescolani served as Senior Vice President at John G. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, IL and served in various capacities during his 14 year career. Lastly, Vescolani began his career as a High School science teacher and later taught in higher education.

Vescolani is a member of several boards including; the Academy of Science of St. LouisForest Park ForeverBioSTL, Higher Education Consortium, Association of Science and Technology Centers, MICDS, St. Louis Regional Chamber & Growth Association and Forest Park Southeast Business Association.

A native of East Lansing, Michigan and graduate of Michigan State University with his  bachelor of science in education, he also has graduate biology coursework from Western Illinois University and graduate course work in Nonprofit Management from North Park University and recently completed coursework at Harvard Kennedy School.

Barbara Boyle
Chief Operating and Financial Officer

Barbara Boyle is the Chief Operating and Financial Officer for the Saint Louis Science Center. In this role she leads financial, operational, administrative, technology and visitor services functions.

Boyle is liaison for the Science Center’s Finance, Audit, Investment and Museum Enterprises committees of the Board of Commissioners and is responsible for the preparation of the annual audited financial statements and the annual operating budget. She also oversees the Science Center’s compliance and risk management activities.

Most recently, Boyle was the Director of Finance and Interim Chief Financial Officer at Boys & Girls Town / Edgewood Children’s Center. In addition to nonprofit experience, Boyle has more than 20 years’ experience in investment banking, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions.

A graduate of the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis, Boyle started her career as an auditor and management consultant with Deloitte & Touche.

Christian Greer
Chief Officer for Science, Education and Experience

Christian Greer is the Chief Officer for Science, Education and Experience at the Saint Louis Science Center.

He oversees a diverse and talented team of professionals who work collaboratively to facilitate unique science learning experiences throughout the St. Louis region. He also oversees the advancement and scaling of Science Beyond the Boundaries–a network of more than 250 science centers and museums.

Greer joins the Science Center from the Chicago Architecture Foundation (CAF), where he served as the Vice President of Learning, providing strategic leadership and direction for a comprehensive set of design-thinking focused programs and exhibitions. Prior to joining CAF, Greer was the first Program Director for the Hive Chicago Learning Network, originally part of the MacArthur Foundation’s Digital Media and Learning Initiative; now run by Mozilla. There he directed the program portfolio for a professional learning community representing more than 40 civic and cultural institutions dedicated to the facilitation of connected learning.

Greer’s career experiences include, leadership positions at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium. In addition to Greer’s museum experience, he also served as the Senior Director of Teaching and Learning at Project Exploration, the Chicago Regional Director for the Illinois Science Teachers Association, and the President of the Board of Directors for Chicago Public Schools, Student Science Fair.

A native of Chicago, Greer holds a BS in physics from Morehouse College, an MA in learning technologies from Pepperdine University, and is currently working toward a doctorate in learning technologies. Greer is a Northwestern University Kellogg School for Management Executive Scholar, and a certified project management professional.

G. Patrick Williams
Chief Institutional Advancement Officer

G. Patrick Williams is responsible for the advancement activities at the Saint Louis Science Center. Williams has more than 39 years of professional experience in the Institutional Advancement/ Foundation field. His experience includes positions as Finance/Fund Raising Director with the Boy Scouts of America, Vice President and Senior Consultant with Metaplex Corporation, Vice President and Senior Consultant with F.G.A. & Associates, Inc., Vice President of Public Information, Development, Marketing/Communications and Operations for MCOSS and CEO of the MCOSS Foundation, Vice President of Institutional Advancement for Lourdes University and President/CEO of the Lourdes University  Foundation, Vice Chancellor for University Relations for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and Chief Executive Officer for the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Foundation.

Williams is a current member of the 30,000 member Association of Fund Raising Professionals. He has served on the National level as a National Delegate as well as the Chairman of the National Government Relations Committee, and the Chairman of the National Publications Advisory Committee and was a past member of the National Membership Committee. Williams was also elected and served a 3 year term on the Board of Directors of the AFP National Foundation. He has served on the Board of Directors of the AFP Northwest Ohio Chapter, and is the former chapter President. He is also a past member and served on the Board of Governors of the New Jersey chapter of AFP. Presently Williams is a member of AFP St. Louis Chapter. Williams has earned the Advanced Certified designation from the AFP and is presently one of only 110 individuals nationally with this certification out of AFP’s 30,000 members.

Williams attended Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kings College in Wilkes Barre, PA. He also holds a Master of Science degree from Misericordia University in Dallas, PA.
