New moon occurred last night at 9:31 pm. If you have an exceptionally clear western horizon you may be able to catch a thin waxing crescent moon that is just 22 hours into the new lunar cycle. The Sun sets at 7:35 p.m. Make absolutely sure the Sun has set before you start looking for the Moon.
