In 1927 on this date, Elliot See, an American test pilot and astronaut, was born. In 1966, he died in a crash of his T-38 jet trainer at the McDonnell Aircraft plant in St. Louis, Missouri. Also killed in this crash was Charles Bassett, another test pilot and astronaut.
