Aliens, spaceships, and the 1990s! There’s no better way to start your holiday weekend then with the 1996 movie, Independence Day. Explore the question of exoplanets and learn about the night sky from our Planetarium staff, try your hand at decoding clues, check out trivia, and more throughout the night, all from the comfort of your own home!

Step into a galaxy far, far away. Experience special photo ops and costume characters from the 501st Legion and learn about Star Wars science from Dr. Patrick Johnson, author of The Physics of Star Wars. Begin or end your evening with a showing of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in the OMNIMAX® Theater at a special First Friday price!

Kick it old school at our First Friday celebrating all things 1990s. Stop by the Gak Lab, check out Y2K technology, jam out to the greatest hits of the decade, and relive middle school science class with episodes of Bill Nye the Science Guy.
Become a First Friday Partner
First Friday is an adult-oriented program that explores the intersection between science and popular culture. We welcome First Friday Partners and vendors who are prepared for the following responsibilities and requirements:
- Bring merchandise and/or activities that connect with the First Friday theme for the evening.
- Arrive no later than 5:30 PM to set up your table and activity.
- Be ready to interact with visitors by 6 PM and staff your table until 9 PM.
- Handle all transactions related to your merchandise.
