8:00 PM, Staff Picks!

At the Science Center, we (unsurprisingly) have a lot of Star Trek fans on staff. Here are a few of their recommendations for things you should check out. Do you have a favorite go-to Star Trek thing that you think everyone should check out? If so, post it in the comments below.

Galaxy Quest
Yes, it’s not technically Star Trek, but it also is. This movie comes overwhelming recommended by staff. If you have not seen it, go watch it. You won’t regret it.

Where to watch:

Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)
Eric, Senior Educator: Planetarium

This Star Trek film has always been my favorite as It feels more like a science fiction movie than any other Star Trek film. It is a slow burn that takes its time to develop flawed characters that are lost and trying to find a meaning to their lives. If you are a fan of the new Picard series, Star Trek: The Motion picture is worth a revisit.

Where to watch:

Lauren, First Friday Coordinator
Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation²
This comic series brought the 11th Doctor, Amy, and Rory onto the Enterprise D to stop the combined forces of the Cybermen and the Borg. A fun read for fans of both franchises that also includes the 4th Doctor meeting Captain Kirk and crew.
