Answers To Your First Friday Questions

Tell me about Science Center Studios Backstage Pass!

Pick up your backstage pass in the Main Building or Planetarium lobbies. Your pass will help you access movie sound stages, Filmmaking 101 classes, and other activities. When you have collected four stamps, bring your pass to the Cinema St. Louis table to collect a prize. The first 100 people to turn in a completed pass will receive a special prize from Cinema St. Louis.

What are Filmmaking 101s?

These 20 to 30 minute classes are an opportunity to learn more about different aspects of filmmaking. Learn about directing, special effects, make-up, reviewing movies, and more! Classes take place every half hour, from 6:30pm to 8pm, and are located in the Life Science Lab Classroom/1, GROW Meeting Room/1, and GROW Classroom/GROW. Sign up outside each room to reserve your spot!

How does First Friday Trivia work?

To play, register as an individual or with a team in the Loft. We can accommodate up to 15 teams. There will be five rounds of trivia, with five questions each round. Prizes for the winners of each round!

How do I purchase tickets for Destination Moon?

Visit any box office!

How do I get free tickets? (for shows, presentations, activities, etc.)

Get your tickets at any box office, starting at 6pm. Science Center Members may use the Member-Only Ticket Line, at the Membership Desk. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each person is allowed up to four tickets for your group. Once you have a ticket, you must be in the theater by show time to claim your seat. If you decide not to use your ticket, please return it to the Membership Desk in the Main Building Lobby. Tickets turned in for sold-out shows will be redistributed at the Membership Desk until 30 minutes prior to show time. After this, visitors without tickets may wait in a standby line outside of the show’s venue. We will let in those standing by to fill all seats not claimed by show time.

What are the costume guidelines?

We encourage guests to wear costumes! Thanks to our partner Johnnie Brock’s Dungeon for providing costumes for Science Center staff.

We ask that your costume not interfere with your safety or the safety of others. You may use face paint and partial face-masks. We ask that you carry any full-face masks or helmets while entering and when you are walking through the Science Center. You may wear your headgear while being photographed.

Weapons as part of costumes are subject to the approval of Saint Louis Science Center Security. No firearms or illegal weapons are allowed and if the weapon has a blade, you must have a covering for it.
