Just when you thought it was safe to go out at night, now it’s even safer and brighter! The Saint Louis Science Center has installed a new LED lighting module for our ZEISS UNIVERSARIUM Model IX projector in the James S. McDonnell Planetarium.  We worked with ZEISS/Seiler Instrument on the install and our star field is more than 2x brighter than before.

This makes for an absolutely brilliant night sky. Our star field is now one of the best in the world for a Planetarium dome. It also means we can have our bright LED cove lights on in the StarBay and still have great stars, helping to simulate the most realistic sky possible for your visit!  We are very pleased with the results and hope you will be too.

This upgrade is also much more energy efficient and makes the Science Center even more ecological and environmentally friendly.

Please stop by the James S. McDonnell Planetarium this week or next to check out our new stars!
