General admission to the Science Center is always free. We have a wide variety of free attractions and several ticketed venues for you to take advantage of when you visit.

Purchase tickets to enhance your experience at one of our ticketed venues, including special exhibitions, OMNIMAX® Theater Films, James S. McDonnell Planetarium Shows, the Discovery Room, the Experience Flight Simulators and the Tractor Run in our GROW exhibit.

  • Stop by the box office at either the main lobby or the Planetarium. Or, buy tickets at any time online. If you’re running late or forgot to get tickets for an OMNIMAX® Theater film, you can use the self-service kiosk outside the theater, across from The Loft. Credit and Debit only.
  • Tickets for the Discovery Room, the Experience Flight and VR Simulators, MakerSpace Classes and GROW’s Tractor Run are available on-site.

The James S. McDonnell Planetarium is located within Forest Park and is connected to the main building at 5050 Oakland Avenue by a bridge that spans Interstate 64/Highway 40. The bridge, also known as the Skybridge, takes people across the highway, through a tunnel and up into the James S. McDonnell Planetarium and Forest Park.

From April – September 27, the Forest Park Trolley makes a stop in the circle drive in front of the Planetarium. For a small fee, the Trolley can take you to other various Forest Park attractions, like the Saint Louis Zoo, Missouri History Museum, the Muny and more. Tickets can be purchased at any Saint Louis Science Center ticketing station. For more info click here.

    • Summer Season: $12 (May 27 – September 4, 2017)
    • Regular: $10 (September 5 – May 25, 2018)
    • Members: Free with valid membership card.
  • You may also park at the James S. McDonnell Planetarium for free. We have a bridge that connects the James S. McDonnell Planetarium to our main building.
  • Parking for vehicles displaying disabled placards is available in a subsection of the main lot. Visitors may wish to drop off individuals with mobility concerns in the circle drive in front of the main entrance. Same pricing as general parking.
  • Parking for fuel-efficient and low-emission vehicles is available in a subsection of the main lot. Same pricing as general parking.

Before parking, you can also drop people off in the circle drive in front of the main entrance or in front of the James S. McDonnell Planetarium.

No outside food is allowed inside of the Science Center. You are permitted to eat outside of the James S. McDonnell Planetarium in Forest Park.

The Science Center has three different locations that offer a variety of food and drinks, including sandwiches, salads, pizza and more. Food Service is available 9:30 am until 4 pm Monday through Saturday and 11 am to 4:30 pm on Sundays. You are also allowed to bring food and drink that you have purchased into the OMNIMAX® Theater.

It really depends on you and how much time you have. If a family wanted to see the entire Science Center and experience all of the ticketed venues, you could be here all day. However you can get in several activities in just a few hours. Most paid venues take an average of 30 – 45 minutes, and attraction space can vary depending on your interest in the subject and how interactive you are with the various activities.

Yes, photography is allowed with the exception of specified areas or exhibitions. Most of the traveling special exhibitions do not allow photography within the actual exhibition space.

Professional photographers or videographers are advised to contact our staff in media relations.

Yes, our nursing station is located on the lower level. Please go to the Information Desk in the main lobby, and a Visitor Services Agent will assist you. While we do provide a private, secure area for nursing mothers, it is not required that you use this area. There are plenty of benches and/or chairs throughout the Science Center that would be easily accessible during your visit.

Wheelchairs and strollers are available in the main lobby and at the James S. McDonnell Planetarium. Please ask a Visitor Services team member and they will be happy to assist you. A limited supply is available and rental is free.
