Virtual Member Event: The Food Supply Shift

Corn stalksThank you for joining us for this panel discussion about how our region is handling the challenges to our food systems during the COVID-19 pandemic. Matt Tiefenbrun of Buttonwood Farms, Blake Hurst, President of the Missouri Farm Bureau as well as a grain farmer and greenhouse grower, along with Professor Sarah Low, PhD from MU will discuss economic impacts and opportunities to move forward as well as share their own experiences.

The pandemic has altered many of the ways we feed ourselves. School lunch is now home lunch. Eating out is carry-out. Choices have been limited in terms of when we can shop, what products we can buy and how we buy them. The closures as a result of the pandemic have also given us greater awareness about how our food is grown, harvested, processed, and distributed and what happens when parts of that system shift dramatically.’

We hope you enjoy this virtual member event.
