Newsweek Readers, Editors Name Saint Louis Science Center America’s Best Free Museum
Recognition Continues String of Top Honors for Local Institution Committed to Expanding STEM Experiences
The editors of Newsweek announced this morning that the Saint Louis Science Center earned the top ranking in the Best Free Museum category of its Readers’ Choice Awards. The St. Louis institution finished FIRST among 15 nominees submitted by Newsweek’s panel of travel experts and editors and voted on by readers around the United States. It marks the second consecutive year that the Science Center earned top five placement in these awards, having finished #2 in 2024 voting.
The Science Center invites guests of all ages and backgrounds to discover their Wonder of Why. The museum features ten galleries offering hundreds of hands-on, interactive STEM experiences, as well as the OMNIMAX® Theater and the James S. McDonnell Planetarium. Today’s announcement continues the honors for the Science Center, which earned recognition last month from USA Today in its 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, finishing with:
- A #1 ranking as Best Planetarium.
- A #2 ranking as Best Free Museum.
- A #5 ranking as Best Science Museum

The Saint Louis Science Center is free and open to guests Thursdays through Mondays.
