The Loeb Prize

Carol B. and Jerome T. Loeb established the Loeb Prize in 1995 in partnership with the Saint Louis Science Center. The Loeb Prize, which provides more than $7,000 to five classroom teachers, is designed to reward and recognize math and science teachers who significantly enhance student performance.

Let’s work together to ignite a passion for science and technology. Reach out at 314.286.4680 or education@slsc.org.

The Saint Louis Science Center shared on May 21, 2026, that Christy Lewis, a mathematics and computer science teacher from Hazelwood West High School, is the 2026 recipient of the Carol B. and Jerome T. Loeb Prize for Excellence in Teaching Science and Mathematics. Carol Loeb — who 31 years ago created the prize with her late husband Jerry — and Science Center President/CEO Dr. Ray Vandiver recognized Lewis and four finalists during an award ceremony this morning.
