Directions & Parking
Oakland Building
- Take Interstate 64/Highway 40 east to the Kingshighway Blvd. exit.
- Turn right at South Kingshighway Blvd.
- Make a right on Oakland Avenue.
- The Science Center is on your left.
- Take Interstate 44 east to the Kingshighway Blvd. exit.
- Turn left at South Kingshighway Blvd.
- Make a left on Oakland Avenue.
- The Science Center is on your left.
- Take Interstate 64/Highway 40 west to the Kingshighway Blvd. North/South exit.
- Turn left at South Kingshighway Blvd.
- Make a right on Oakland Avenue.
- The Science Center is on your left.
- Take Interstate 170 south to Interstate 64/Highway 40 east.
- Take the Kingshighway Blvd. exit.
- Turn right at South Kingshighway Blvd.
- Make a right on Oakland Avenue.
- The Science Center is on your left.
James S. McDonnell Planetarium
- Exit at Kingshighway Blvd. and turn right.
- Turn immediately left at Barnes Hospital Plaza to enter Forest Park (first stoplight after I-64 overpass).
- Turn right on Clayton and then left into the Planetarium parking lot on Faulkner Dr.
- Exit at Kingshighway Blvd. and go north.
- Turn left at Barnes Hospital Plaza to enter Forest Park (first stoplight after I-64 overpass).
- Turn right on Clayton and then left into the Planetarium parking lot on Faulkner Dr.
- Take the Kingshighway Blvd. exit and turn right (south) on Kingshighway Blvd.
- Turn right at Barnes Hospital Plaza to enter Forest Park.
- Turn right on Clayton and then left into the Planetarium parking lot on Faulkner Dr.
- Take the Hampton Ave./Oakland Ave. exit and turn left (north) on Hampton Ave.
- Use the first exit in the roundabout and go right on Wells Dr.
- At the roundabout, use the first exit and go right on McKinley Dr.
- Turn left on Clayton Ave. and then right into the Planetarium parking lot on Faulkner Dr.
Parking
Parking at our Oakland building (5050 Oakland Avenue) costs $15. Parking is free for Science Center members year-round. If you are a member having trouble scanning your member card upon entry, grab a ticket and a Member Services representative will happily validate your parking.
Parking is also available at the McDonnell Planetarium, which is connected to the Oakland building by a walkable Sky Bridge over Interstate 64/Highway 40.
Both parking lots feature parking for vehicles displaying disabled placards. Visitors may wish to drop off individuals with mobility concerns in the circle drives in front of each building.
Parking can be paid for by credit/debt card at the pay station in the main lobby or at the gates of the Oakland parking lot when you leave.
Parking Instructions
Bus & RV Parking
Buses, RVs, and trailers cannot park in the Oakland or Planetarium parking lots. Parking for these vehicles can be found on the east bound lane of Oakland Ave and on the north bound lane of Macklind Avenue.
Bus/RV/Trailer Parking in Forest Park
Buses, RVs, and trailers can park in Forest Park at The Muny’s upper parking lot as seen in the yellow area on the map. After dropping off your guests at the James S. McDonnell Planetarium, proceed to the upper lot at the Muny where you can park.
Public Transportation
Several public transportation options provide service to Forest Park, including the MetroLink and MetroBus.
