In May 2026, top supporters and leaders from throughout the community were the first to make a big splash with “Blue” at a celebration to officially open The Blue Whale Story at the Saint Louis Science Center.
Guests enjoyed cocktails and ocean-inspired bites before diving into the world of our planet’s largest animal. They also met the Science Center’s Scientist in Residence for the summer, Jean Potvin, PhD, a professor of physics from Saint Louis University and expert on how baleen whales feed.
Attendees also enjoyed a special discount in the ExploreStore and connected with Science Center President and CEO Ray Vandiver, who provided a glimpse into the Science Center’s emerging vision and plans.
“The Science Center can bring the wonder of The Blue Whale Story to St. Louis thanks to the people who help sustain our mission,” says Bobby Sanderson, chief advancement officer. “We are delighted to launch the exhibition’s run by recognizing this generosity and sharing our gratitude.”
