ST. LOUIS, MO – November 3, 2025

WHAT:

We need it to survive, but have you thought of the science behind how food is cultivated, produced, prepared and consumed? The Saint Louis Science Center’s Sci-FEAST Expo — supported by Presenting Sponsor BJC HealthCare and Supporting Sponsors Nestlé Purina PetCare Company and St. Luke’s — will explore the fascinating science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) surrounding foods, beverages and nutrients for people, pets and other living things.

Sci-FEAST is a free, all-day event that showcases how food, nutrition, health and STEM connect. Through one-on-one interaction with more than 150 experts in food science, animal science, nutrition, agriculture, environmental science and more, guests can discover more about the products we eat and use every day.

Among the featured activities will be:

  • A focus on nutrition, diet and health, with hands-on activities by professionals from BJC HealthCare and St. Luke’s.
  • Information on pet nutrition from Nestlé Purina Pet Care, including a discussion of good (and not so good) items to feed your pet — as well as a visit by the popular touch-therapy dog teams.
  • A “Guess the Flavor” activity featuring Beck Flavors, a St. Louis-based company that designs custom flavors for many favorite foods and beverages.
  • A discussion on the science behind “Building Better Burgers” with Hi-Pointe Drive In and a hands-on experience in building burgers in zero gravity.
  • Hands-on pasta activities, with sampling, by Noodles & Company.
  • Demonstrations on the science of food and taste with opportunities to sample foods and beverages from around our region.
  • The “Science of Fermentation,” with sampling of distilled favorites from the St. Louis Bourbon Society, Bare Wood Spirits, Switchgrass Spirits and StilL 630 Distillery.
  • Animal and plant science engagement, including dairy cows, aquatic invertebrates and insects, food crops, mushrooms and flowers.
