Today in St. Louis, Missouri, we have equal hours of day and night as the Sun rises at 6:51 and it sets at 18:51. This day is called equilux, which occurs a few days after the autumnal and a few days before the vernal equinox. The reason we experience more daytime on an equinox is the Sun appears as a disk and atmospheric refraction. You can learn more about equilux here.
