Roman glassware includes some of the finest pieces of art ever produced in antiquity. Glass unguentaria like these here held the various oils, perfumes, and cosmetics used by nearly every member of Roman society. These objects demonstrate the revolutionary invention of glassblowing, which allowed vessels to be made in a wider range of shapes because they had thinner walls that were easily molded.
