Bone Carved Roman Dice, Rome, ca. 100-300 CE

Ancient Romans loved the competitive dice games of Tesserae and Tali. They were also big gamblers. Dice were commonly carved from wood or bone, like these here, and thrown from a cup or small box. Gaming was a favorite pastime at banquets and other social occasions.
