The Batman Trivia

  • This is the first time a Batman movie directly addresses the black eye makeup under the cowl. In all the other movies the makeup just disappeared when Bruce took his mask off.
  • The Batmobile for this movie is a highly modified muscle car. This was influenced from the 1970s “Batman” comics. The Batmobile was a fairly normal-looking car that Batman drove for stealth purposes.
  • Matt Reeves stated his version of the Riddler was partially inspired by the serial killer Zodiac in California in the late 1960s.
  • Pattinson auditioned for The Batman using Val Kilmer’s original costume from Batman Forever. Pattinson’s head didn’t fit into Kilmer’s cowl, so he wore the one George Clooney wore in Batman & Robin.
  • Matt Reeves used Francesco Francavilla’s work as an influence on the film’s design.
  • Filming began in January 2020 in London and was put on hold on March 25, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After a 5 months, shooting began again in late August 2020. After three days, filming was again suspended on September 3, after Pattinson allegedly tested positive for COVID-19. After he was cleared to return, shooting resumed on September 17, 2020 and finally wrapped on March 12, 2021.
