We have childhood discovery down to a science.
The Discovery Room has new features and experiences! Research shows that children grow socially, academically, and emotionally in play-based settings and the Discovery Room is a great place for you and your budding young scientist to immerse yourselves in playful exploration. Come and learn with us!

Preschool Science Series is a program to immerse early learners in playful learning and exploration.
Science Storytime
We invite our youngest visitors, along with their friends and families, to join us at the Energy Stage for Science Story Time. Enjoy an interactive read-aloud of a science-themed picture book, followed by a short demonstration or discussion connected to the book’s main concepts.

*Adults do need a ticket. At least one adult must participate with every 4 children’s ticket purchased. The adult must be 18+. Children may not be left unattended in the Discovery Room without an adult.
**Free tickets for members. You can get your tickets at the box office, tickets are required for members, they are free.
***Military discounts cannot be applied online, tickets must be purchased at the box office.

What is the Discovery Room?
The Discovery Room is a self-guided hands-on early childhood environment where children and their adults learn and play together. The exhibits, toys and activities are designed to encourage inquiry and exploration of beginning science, math, and engineering concepts.

Location
The Discovery Room is located on the 2nd floor of the main 5050 Oakland Building. Access is available through the main entrance, then up the stairs in the main lobby to the second floor, turn to your left and go passed Mission:Mars and Makerspace.

Members get discounts for their young scientists!
Do you have a little scientist? Become a Science Center member and get discounted tickets to events in the Discovery Room, as well as get a full year of additional members-only benefits.
Plus, members help support the Science Center and our mission to make science learning open to everyone.
Accessibility
The Discovery Room is accessible to visitors with disabilities, as well as visitors with strollers, scooters, and walkers. Elevators and ramps serve all public areas.
