This time of the year, the constellation Perseus is rising in the northeast around 10:30 pm. The radiant of the Perseid meteor shower appears in this constellation. As such, being able to find this constellation will give excellent views of the meteor shower. The Perseids peak the night of the 12th into the morning of the 13th.
