The Geminid Meteor Shower peaks tonight into tomorrow morning. Unlike most meteor showers, the Geminids appear to be caused by an asteroid instead of a comet. The source for the Geminids is an object called 3200 Phaethon. The Geminid radiant will be above the horizon by 7 pm and overhead by 2 am. This is a good year for the Geminids as the moon phase will be near new moon.
