Of the eight planets in our solar system, we can see five without the help of a telescope – Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Tonight after sunset, it is possible to see Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Mars will be found in the east and Jupiter and Saturn can both be found in the south-southwest. A waxing gibbous moon will also be visible to the southeast, between Mars and Jupiter.

The sky as it will appear tonight at 6 pm. Mars, the Moon, Jupiter and Saturn are all visible across the south-southeastern sky. The Moon exhibits a waxing gibbous phase. Star map created using Stellarium. Image credit: NASA SVS
