On this date in 2000, the crew of Shuttle Endeavour, during the STS-97 flight, were awakened by NASA’s transmission of “Back in the Saddle Again,” by Gene Autry. The song was played in honor of Shuttle Pilot Michael J. Bloomfield, who was making this second space flight and his second fly-around of a space station. See NASA’s STS-97 Mission Archive page here.
