The Kuiper Belt is a region that extends beyond the orbit of Neptune and is believed to contain at least hundreds of thousands if not millions of icy objects. There have been approximately 2,000 individual Kuiper Belt Objects (KBOs) discovered so far. The most famous of the KBO’s is the dwarf planet Pluto; however, Eris, Makemake, and Haumea are also dwarf planets orbiting the sun in the Kuiper Belt.
