Early tomorrow morning it is possible to find the Moon approximately 1.1° from Mars in the eastern sky. With the right perspective, the Moon will appear to pass in front of Mars, creating a lunar occultation. Although this occultation will not be visible from the continental United States, parts of Northwest Alaska and Eastern Asia will be able to observe it. Another occultation of Mars will occur on December 7, 2022. This occultation will be visible for many U.S. observers.
