YES Program (Youth Exploring Science)

Working closely with partners from NASA, the James S. McDonnell Planetarium, Boeing, Scott Air Force Base, and Saint Louis University, YES Teens in the Aerospace component work towards mastery in astronomy, flight, and living in space.

This component focuses on projects with chefs, food scientists, plant scientists, and others to learn about issues with plants and food and use that information to teach others.

All YES teens participate in the CCR component, which maximizes individuals’ skills for a successful transition after high school. Teens follow specific educational tracks in academic development, career understanding, and financial literacy.

 
Cyber Security focuses on identifying vulnerabilities and countering cyber threats to computers, smart phones, and networks systems. Cyber Security teens practice preventative measures and network restoration, and participate in the nationwide Cyber Patriot competition.

The Entrepreneur Component educates and empowers teens to become future stakeholders in their communities. YES teens work in project-based learning communities to create products and business prototypes.

Integrative Medicine Teens focus on Sports Medicine to better understand how to prevent or offset heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Teens will develop workout circuits and spaces, complete nutritional need assessments, and master an understanding of how the musculoskeletal system functions.

Teens will discover and demonstrate the relationship between creativity and STEM using Raspberry Pis, 3-D printers, 3-D modeling software, CNC machines, and soldering stations. They will integrate engineering and computer design concepts to express their ideas and cultivate a Maker culture.

Media Lab focuses on mastering multimedia production. Rather than sitting through lectures, teens choose jobs found in professional production studios. They learn to perform these roles through mentoring, research, and experience.
