Off-Site School Programs

Bring the Science Center into your classroom! Every year we serve 20,000 people through off-site educational programs at schools, community centers, parties, fairs, festivals, and camps.

We’ll tailor each program to your group, and provide all necessary materials, safety equipment and handouts. Off-site programming requires a $50 fee on top of our standard program fees. If you would like to hold multiple programs on the same day, you will only be charged one off-site fee. An additional travel fee may apply for long distance locations.

For more information or to schedule a program, please call 314.289.4439 or email education@slsc.org.

Program Guide

Amazing Science Demonstrations

Let us put on a live science demonstration for your group. These live, 30-minute shows can be facilitated at your location, and are recommended for up to 100 people ages 5 and up.

Makerspace

Makerspace programming offers students amazing hands-on experiences where they can expect to tinker, make, invent and collaborate. Our experienced staff will lead your group.

Astronomy and Space Science

Give your students the chance to explore the planets of the Solar System or other galaxies in the universe. Investigate planetary surfaces, build a space probe out of recycled materials, conduct research on other planets, or bring the stars and constellations indoors with our portable planetarium.

Paleontology and Earth Sciences

Explore the history of the Earth and the creatures that roamed its surface, both past and present. From dinosaurs and fossils to rocks, minerals and earthquakes, we have the program for your group. We can even create a fossil preparation lab experience in your own classroom.

Biology and Life Science

Students will find out what makes humans and other organisms tick as they explore the mysteries of life. Introduce your group to the world of DNA, examine the functions of multiple organ systems, and more.

Physical Science

Explore fascinating physical science topics using our hands-on, experiential learning activities. Students will learn about the states of matter, as well as physics and architecture.

Early Childhood and Early Elementary Education

Let the Science Center help ignite an interest of science in your young learners. Children can build a house using reclaimed materials, learn about the senses, feel the force of magnets and get creative with electricity.

School Field Trips

Bring science to life with a field trip that your students will remember for a lifetime. The Science Center offers a number of field trip packages, many of which include demonstrations, Planetarium shows and OMNIMAX® Theater films.
