Our world is moving full STEAM ahead.

Understanding how science and technology impact our daily lives, our communities, even our planet is vital to preparing for—and meeting—both the pressing challenges and incredible opportunities of the future. Support for the Science Center helps fund accessible STEAM learning programs vital for today and tomorrow.

Our world is more than just physical. STEAM topics like math, computer science, and information technology give us a better understanding of our digital world, as artificial intelligence, robotics and automation, and cyber security touch our lives more and more each day.

Your gift to the Science Center helps unlock a better understanding of our STEAM-powered world through accessible science and technology experiences for over 1 million people each year. Through in-person programs like SciFest and First Friday, off-site community events with Youth Exploring Science (YES), and digital education efforts for the St. Louis community and region, your gift makes an impact.

St. Louis is STEAM Powered.

STEAM does’t just impact our world. It impacts St. Louis, too.

Recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that science, technology, engineering, and math jobs will grow by 8 percent by 2029—more than twice as much as non-STEAM jobs.

St. Louis is already a hub for science and technology. From startups deciphering data from the Mars Perseverance rover; to researchers making new discoveries in cancer, aging, pediatrics, and more; to factories producing supplies for Covid-19 vaccines, STEAM helps power our community.

The St. Louis region is even poised to grow in key science and tech sectors. Recent reports have shown five established industries ranging from advanced production and manufacturing, to advanced business services, to biomedical and health services, as well as three emerging sectors—geospatial technology, financial technology, and agriculture technology — with the strong potential for growth over the coming years.

Still, even among St. Louis’ top hard-to-fill jobs today, many are reliant on STEAM skills. From healthcare workers and technicians to web developers and computer systems engineers, St. Louis’ 21st century workforce depends on people who are knowledgeable in STEAM concepts.
