Let’s face it, you love your wine – but what is the rule of thumb for properly enjoying it? Check out these three helpful tips on how you should be enjoying yours.

Tip 1: “Swirling” a glass of wine before tasting it will aerate the wine and release its aromas. Aeration is the infusion of oxygen into wine in order to develop and balance its elements.

Tip 2: When tasting wine, moving it around in your mouth allows for all of the taste receptors to activate. Sweetness is detected at the tip of the tongue, bitterness at the back, and sourness on the sides.

Tip 3: Drinking wine from a tulip-shaped wine glass curves the aromas inwards at the top so they are not able to escape. These aromas will then allow the wine drinker to best taste their wine. Holding the glass by the stem will also allow for better taste as it will keep from warming the wine.
